GREEN MOUNTAINS REVIEW
Green Mountains Review seeks stories about shame and/or glory for an all-fiction double issue.
EARTH ISLAND JOURNAL -- Non-fiction
We are looking for stories that anticipate environmental concerns before they become pressing problems, stories that scan the horizon for the next big issue. Whenever possible, we seek to tell the stories of individuals and communities who are successfully defending and restoring the Earth. On-the-ground reports from outside North America are especially welcomed. We pay writers 20 cents/word for shorter dispatches (1,200-1,500 words) and for longer investigative features (2,500-3,000 words).
MAD MAGAZINE (Pays: $500/printed page)
We're actively looking to expand our pool of freelance comedy writers and there's more opportunity to join The Usual Gang Of Idiots than ever. If you have a twisted sense of humor, a peculiar way of looking at the world, or are simply eager to express your immature, strange or just plain silly side, then we want to see your stuff!
Send us a paragraph or two explaining the premise of your article, with three or four examples of how you would carry it through. Be sure to include art notes describing the visual content of each example. Rough sketches are welcomed but not necessary. Be neat and to the point. No hand-written submissions.
